Some of our Favorite Fruits and their Health Benefits

by Rebecca Gold 05 May 2021

Keeping a healthy diet means including every food group. A balanced diet can’t be complete without fruit! Out of all the other food groups you’ll find, splashy, juicy, sweet fruit is definitely our favorite. They provide the natural, complex sugars and water content our bodies crave, along with many other great benefits. Here are some of our favorite fruits and the health superpowers they’re packing!

Pineapple

Pineapple

OF COURSE we had to start with the fabulous pineapple! It’s OBVIOUSLY our favorite fruit. The mighty Pineapple is packed with high nutrient content. It’s rich in vitamin C and manganese. The bromelain content may fight inflammation and reduce the risk of cancer and tumor growth. This tropical beauty helps with weight loss, digestion, might even help with arthritis and has been connected to quick recovery from surgery or workouts! All this and this golden delicacy just tastes amazing! And yes, pineapples also look great ON you. No, we don’t mean a pineapple bra! Pineapple printed leggings and sports bras are a great look for sunny workout days!

Papaya

Papaya

Another tropical fruit, the papaya has a more subtle taste than the pineapple, but is still super yummy. The papaya is a wonderful fruit superhero that helps with things like digestion, has vitamins A & C, potassium and folate. Papaya is known to have anti-cancer antioxidant lycopene present. What could be better than that? Well, studies show that the body absorbs lycopene better from papaya than from other lycopene-rich fruits and vegetables.

Blueberry

Blueberry

The magical blueberry might be tiny, but inside, these mini berries are crammed with antioxidants - one of the highest known sources of it in the fruit world! Blueberries are also high in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese. These blue beauties may reduce the risk of chronic conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s and just have a great effect on the human immune system overall! They are like little superheroes, helping defend your body from oxidative stress and viral infections. Last but not least, blueberries have been linked to improved memory in older adults. All this and they’re still the perfect little berry to make pies and jam with.

Mango

Mango

What can we say - tropical fruits are just our thing! They simply taste like sunsets in food form. And the mango is no exception! This delectable fruit most often found in the caribbean islands and anywhere close to the equator are sweet, tangy fruits that also bring the heat when it comes to nutrients. They provide things like high fiber content, vitamin C, antioxidants, are anti-inflammatory and help protect against diabetes.

Lemons

Lemons

If mangoes are sunsets in fruit form, lemons are the taste of a sunny high noon. These zesty, tangy fruits are a very healthy citrus fruit known for their high vitamin C content. They’re also the perfect way to add some citrusy flair to any recipe! But besides adding a spritz of sunshine to anything from water to fish tacos to lemon pound cake, lemons are known to help  promote heart health due to their potential to lower blood lipids and blood pressure.  Based on research involving animal studies, researchers have also suggested that the plant compounds in lemons can help prevent weight gain. Citric acid in lemon juice also has the ability to treat kidney stones. The best part yet? They not only taste good and are good for you; lemons also look good ON you. Right now, lemons are trending as a hot summer print. Check out our lemon printed leggings!

Guava

Guava

Here’s another irresistible island fruit on our list: The guava. This tropical fruit has a unique, sweet taste that is like no other fruit. It’s perfect for everything from jams and jellies to pastries to even bbq sauce! Guavas are impressive fruits because they have a very high vitamin C content. They are also rich in fiber, folate, potassium, manganese, copper and vitamin A. Guavas also have ingredients that make them protectors against colon cancer.
