Spring Wedding Style for Guests

by Rebecca Gold 15 Apr 2020

Got an invite to a Spring wedding and can’t decide what to wear? Since it’s the time of year when better weather typically starts, Spring is a popular season in which couples tend to plan their nuptials. While the bridal party is busy squaring away what dresses and tuxes they’ll be donning to the ceremony and reception, you might be left looking at your closet at a loss, wondering what to wear.

One thing to pay attention to is the time of day the wedding takes place. If it’s a daytime wedding, a shorter, light-colored dress with soft, feminine details is perfect. If it’s an evening wedding, a more semi-formal look with slightly deeper hues, more luxe fabrics and possibly longer lengths tend to work well. If you’re still at a loss, here are some great ideas for what to wear if you’re attending.

Say Yes to Lace Dresses

One fabric that looks classically appropriate for weddings is lace. It’s often found on the bride herself or on the bridesmaids, but it also looks great on the guests. If you care to adhere to the traditional wedding rules, we suggest NOT choosing white; but you can wear lace in a variety of other colors. Choose soft pastels or bright, spring-appropriate tones like mint, sage, rose, or nude tones. A short, lace shift dress is a perfect look, for both you and your little one to wear. You can also do lace on an empire waist dress or a one-shoulder sleeveless lace dress

Spring has Sprung: Floral Dresses for Weddings

Another go-to, classic look for weddings is a good floral print. Year after year, the trends change, but flowers never go out of style. Choose a beautiful floral printed dress and you’ll look precisely on-trend for a spring wedding, especially if it’s a daytime wedding. A beautiful shift dress with blue florals on a white backdrop is a great idea for a look; a floral printed bodycon dress can be super flattering and look amazing paired with solid nude shoes or chic metallics.

Empire Waist Dresses for Weddings

An Empire Waist dress is a great choice for both adults and young girls. It’s very fun and femme, giving you that twirl factor that will look awesome in photos, but will also help make you feel more relaxed since it hides the abdomen area. That means if you get a little too full from the meal at the reception, you won’t have to worry about sucking it in! The fit and flare nature of the empire waist dress will help you feel light and free at a function when many people opt to wear tight-fitting, extra restricting looks. This can help make you feel more comfortable and confident - and there’s no better accessory when you’re out and about!

Skirts and Tops for Weddings

It’s not always about dresses for weddings - you can also rock a skirt and top look for a nice, 2 piece ensemble. One hot trend at the moment is a long, satin pleated skirt paired (high waisted) with a dressy crop top, long-sleeved top or light sweater. Pair with some strappy heels or pumps and a cute clutch to finish the look.
