Having a separate wardrobe for work, school, errands, parties and fitness is now a thing of the past. The world was already getting more casual and laid back, but once the pandemic hit, quarantine and work from home became a thing, it pretty much threw formalities out of the window. That work meeting via Zoom? Sweatpants and a tee-shirt. That lunch date with a friend? Yoga leggings and a sports bra. Maybe a jacket over it, depending on the weather. The lines between what you should wear to work and what you should wear to the gym or a night out with your friends has become so blurred that pretty much anything goes if you style it right! That means that even if you ONLY had activewear in your closet, you could style your pieces in ways that would look perfect for every occasion! That’s good news for anyone who likes to save time and money. Here are some genius ways to multitask your activewear to create looks that are appropriate for any occasion.

Blacked Out: Sleek & Chic

Blacked Out: Sleek & Chic

This look is inspired by the LBD (Little Black Dress) - that femme fatale spy look. Since black is a classic that is ALWAYS in style, all you’ll need is black leggings and a black top. The black leggings are the most basic piece that pretty much everyone owns. Pair a black legging with any black top - it can be a long sleeve top, a turtleneck with no sleeves, a loose crop top or whatever silhouette you want. Pull your hair back into a sleek bun, ponytail or a braid. Go minimal with the face and eye makeup and do a bold lip, like fire engine red, a bright coral in the summer, or a deep purple in the fall. Gold jewelry and some heels + a high-end handbag. All of a sudden you look expensive and sophisticated - and all you did was multitask your black activewear!

Cozy & Cute

Cozy & Cute

If it’s a particularly chilly day, a post-workout wardrobe adjustment is exceptionally easy. Just throw on a chunky sweater, fleece zip-up or oversized cardigan, some high fluffy socks and some boots - add all this to whichever color leggings you happen to be wearing and you have yourself the perfect winter outfit. This look pairs wonderfully with any color leggings because of the oversized, roomy fit of the sweater and the contrasting slim fit of the legging. The whole look gives comfy/cute and effortless! You’ll be so comfy in this that even after going about your day and running errands, you’re most likely end up going home and going to bed in this.

Layered & Professional

Layered & Professional

Believe it or not, you CAN pull off a professional look with the right layers. It’s as easy as throwing on a blazer over a matching set of leggings and a sports bra. If you work in a semi-casual environment where wearing jeans and flats is acceptable, then you can translate your gym look into an office look just by adding a layer. Whether it’s a blazer, a cardigan, or a button-up collared shirt, add an outer layer, put on some professional-looking flats like sperrys or boots, throw your hair up into a ponytail, add jewelry and you have yourself a completely acceptable professional look - that you can easily deconstruct later and make it to your yoga class after work without having to change!

Hoodie/Athletic and Trendy

Athleisure looks are dominating streetwear nowadays, making gym clothes a very on-trend choice for anything from running errands to going to the movies or meeting friends for some drinks. In this world, almost anything goes - whether you’re wearing biker shorts and a crop top, leggings and a matching sports bra or anything else that you’d wear to the gym. If you’ve got leggings or biker shorts, throwing on Converse sneakers, and an oversized hoodie is a quick and easy way to give yourself that effortlessly cool look no matter where you’re going.
